Trillium and Collaborative Community

Trillium and Collaborative Community

One of our goals as an ensemble is to create community through collaborations with other artists and with our audience. Community is powered by relationships, and relationships are the heart of collaboration.  The tools of social media allows us to connect with audiences and presenters we have not yet met in real time, but on its own, it cannot solve the problems of poor or missing collaboration.

The website, Thought Farmer – Social Intranet, defines collaboration as  “two or more people working together towards shared goals”. At our recent presentation for the Suzuki Association of the America’s bi-ennial conference in Minneapolis, Alison (violin) and I (cello) spoke about creating community through our teaching collaboration in our chamber music program for young musicians. We spoke about united labor, working jointly, and creating community for students in our studios and beyond.

Collaboration is defined especially by working with others in intellectual, literary and artistic pursuits.  Trillium’s “tools” are our instruments, fueled by our love for the music we play and perform. But more than that, we want our audiences to feel as much a part of our creative process as we do. We want to take you along with us on an sonic emotional journey, so that you leave the concert or program feeling that you have been touched by an experience of the sonic world we live in.

In order to accomplish this, we need you! We want to connect with you in real time, and align ourselves with concertgoers and music lovers of all types and stripes. Our chamber music program for young musicians is one way we are growing future generations of music lovers and players. Another way we do this is through custom designed house concerts in which you and your invited guests help us choose the music you want to hear, and we deliver a unique in-home experience right to your door! If you have a piano and enough space to accommodate two string instruments (or more!) we are eager to perform for you, reviving the concept of a “salon” or “soiree” evening. There are a variety of ways to make this affordable, and we look forward to sharing those at your request.

We invite you inside the music, inside our creative process, and inside the power of music to connect us as a collaborative community. Watch this space for more information and a look at all our projects!
